Motels in Maroubra, Sydney
Picture yourself surfing on one of Australia's best surfing beaches! Legend has it that the Australian surf culture actually began here in Maroubra in the early 1900s. Local surfers come here to escape the crowds in nearby Sydney's crowded beaches, to teach at the surf schools and to be involved in the life-saving and lifeguard clubs available. Maroubra, which means "like thunder" in the Aboriginal language, is about 12 k south of the city of Sydney.
