Richland, Oregon is a farming and ranching community in Baker County along Oregon State Highway 86, also known as the "Hell's Canyon Scenic By-Way." It hosts an annual crappie fishing tournament due to its being one of the top five warm water fishing areas. It is two miles from the Hewitt-Holcomb Recreation Park, which offers areas for tent camping, picnic tables, fire rings and showers. It is also the site of the entrance to the Snake River Hunting Area. The park has three boat ramps for 20 boats, tent camping and RV hookups. A cleaning station for fishermen is also provided. There is only one motel in Richland but several other affordable options are in the next town of Halfway.

Hitching Post Motel and Store

The Hitching Post is a motel with a grocery store attached. It also supplies fishing gear for the nearby Brownlee Reservoir, a great spot for catching warm water fish such as bass, yellow perch, trout, and catfish. You can find solitude among the steep canyon walls and fir trees. Deer elk, antelope, black bears, otters, eagles and herons can also be spotted.

Pine Valley Lodge

Pine Valley Lodge is a rustic ranch inn in the town of Halfway where you can relax on the porch hammock. Furnishings are handmade and beds feature elderdown duvets and country quilts. Amenities include laundry facilities and satellite television in the common area. A continental breakfast is served on weekends. A "woodshed" at the back of the lodge accommodates 25 people for special events. Small pets are permitted in some rooms for an additional fee. Nearby Hells Canyon offers 652,488 acres of mountain peaks and wilderness. Activities include whitewater boating, horseback riding and hiking. It is also home to the deepest river gorge in North America.

Halfway Motel

Halfway Motel is conveniently located next to the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. There are 18 rooms with either one or two queen beds and a full bath. Some rooms have a microwave and refrigerator. Seven of the rooms have stall showers which the motel recommends for guest hunters and sportsmen. There is a separate cabin with one queen bed and stall shower. All rooms have satellite television and in-room coffee. There are 13 RV hookups each with its own grassy area, picnic table and barbecues and an on-site laundromat.
