Shiga Prefecture (formerly known as Omi Province) is located in the center of Japan. Shiga Prefecture's capital city is Otsu, which lies on the largest lake in Japan, Lake Biwa. Otsu is a ten minute train ride from Kyoto and about an hour train ride to Osaka. Water sports, like jet skiing, boating and swimming can be enjoyed at the lake. Play a round of golf at Seta Golf Course. Climb or hike the surrounding mountains of Ibuki, Suzuka, and Hira. During the colder months, ski at Hakodateyama Ski Area, which is about an hour and half from Otsu. Explore Karahashi Bridge, Ishiyamadera Temple, Biwako Hana Funsui (the world's largest water fountain) only 15 minutes from Otsu. Nestle into a hotel after your day's adventures and take a soak in a one of the 1,200 year old hot spring (onsen).

Biwako Hanakaido

This Japanese-stle hotel is located in Otsu surrounded by Mount Hiei and overlooking Japan's largest lake, Lake Biwa. Choose from a Japanese-style room or a western room.
