Located amid the half-million acre Nantahala National Forest, Franklin is a prime vacation destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors have access to the many trails within the Nantahala and Great Smoky Mountains National Forest, including the Appalachian Trail, access to white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing and trout fishing in pristine mountain streams. Big Bear Log Cabins

Choose from one of three small log cabins or one large cabin with one to three bedrooms, each equipped with washer and dryer, WiFi, TV, DVD player, wood floors and hickory and cedar furniture for an authentic rustic look. One-bedroom cabins have queen-sized futons or loft for additional sleeping. Each cabin has comfortable wooden rockers for relaxing and outdoor grills for cookouts. Paved roads to all cabins provide easy access throughout the seasons. Cabins are located in quiet, secluded areas providing plenty of privacy but close to the city where restaurants, movie theater, retail shops and specialty boutiques are located.

Oak Grove Cabins

The fully equipped cabins located near the Little Tennessee River, provide swimming, tubing and fishing in the river right outside the door. Nearby, visitors can book a white water rafting adventure in the Nantahala National Forest, mine for gemstones such as sapphires, rubys and garnets in local area mines, or hike the trail leading to 250-foot Cullasaja Falls. Cabins are one to two bedrooms with queen beds, extra futons for sleeping and lofts, full kitchens with accessories and microwave, TV and DVD set up, WiFi, picnic tables and grills.

Turnstone Log Cabins

Located on Betty's Creek and adjoining the 24,500 acre Nantahala Wilderness area and Standing Indian Wildlife and Bear Preserve, Turnstone offers one or two bedroom log cabins, each air conditioned for summer months and equipped with electric heat and a rock fireplace for cooler weather. Rear decks with charcoal grills overlook the creek. Front decks feature swings and rockers for relaxation. For outdoor activities, trout fishing farms, marked hiking trails leading to the Appalachian Trail, rafting down the Chatuga River or hiking within Tallulah Gorge State Park just across the state line in north Georgia are convenient to the visitors staying at the cabins.
