Italian Restaurants in Christchurch, New Zealand
Situated on the South Island, Christchurch is a historic city with a character that is a reminder of its origins as an English settlement. Serving as the gateway to the South Island, it has subsequently become home to many different eating establishments offering a broad range of cuisines from local dishes to exotic Mediterranean meals. With a distinctly European atmosphere, it is little surprise that Christchurch is home to some fine Italian restaurants.

Portofino

One of the longest running catering chains in New Zealand, Portofino has over 25 years experience in serving up great Italian food. With restaurants in nine different locations across New Zealand, Portofino has established itself as one of the best places to go in Christchurch. Situated in the historic city center, the restaurant has a contemporary décor that is stylish and inviting creating a convivial atmosphere to enjoy your meal in. Ideal for parties, Portofino welcomes large group bookings and also can be reserved for birthdays, weddings and Christmas meals. The food is reasonably priced, with an average main course costing around $16 USD, and comes in generous portions ensuring you walk away full and satisfied. The menu is seasonal and varies accordingly so that you can always expect something new and interesting to try on your next visit. Recommended is the selection of gourmet pizzas that are made from scratch in the restaurant. Try the Kiwi, a pizza consisting of salmon, spinach, garlic and egg or the Seafood that, as well as having the standard ingredients of anchovies and shrimps, also includes squid, salmon and tuna.
