Arizona is a perfect combination of ancient beauty and Old West myths. The state presents a vast array of potential fun and recreation for RV campers. You can visit ghost towns. You can swim in or run river rapids. You can climb rocks or hike mountain trails. There are many well-maintained campsites for recreational vehicles throughout the state.

Lost Dutchman State Park

Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Junction, Arizona provides 70 RV-only campsites. The sites are open all year and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a picnic table and a grill. New campground showers have made this park even more appealing. Hiking trails and horseback riding are two popular activities in the park. Nearby attractions include Boyce Thompson State Park, Superstition Mountain and Tonto National Forest. Lost Dutchman also has many natural rock formations caused by millions of years of erosion. Pets are allowed as long as they leashed.

Mather Campground

The Grand Canyon is the king of all camping destinations and Mather Campground is the king of RV camping with 312 RV-only sites and the awe and majesty of the canyon itself only a short drive away. Recreational opportunities include hiking to horseback riding to helicopter rides through the Grand Canyon. Every RV site features a picnic table and grill and there is a fully-stocked grocery market just a 1/2-mile away. Pets are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park

Lake Pleasant Regional Park, near Phoenix, has 148 RV sites. Each site includes a sheltered table and grill. There are 4 miles of hiking trails, including the Pipeline Canyon Trail that has a floating bridge when the water gets a little too high. Fishing is excellent in the park, with bass, crappie and catfish available. There are also two boat ramps. Reservations are not taken; arrive by Thursday if you want to guarantee get a good spot for weekend.
