Plantation Key is about 60 miles from Miami, Florida, in the Middle Keys. Situated south of Key Largo and north of Windley Key, it is home to the Village of Islamorada and the Town of Tavernier. The Florida Keys are world famous for the boating, diving, fishing and snorkeling opportunities. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park sits about 20 miles north of Plantation Key and Everglades National Park and the Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park are also nearby.

Coconut Palm Inn

The rooms and suites at the Coconut Palm Inn feature queen or king beds and mini-refrigerators, and some of the suites have a full kitchen. This hotel welcomes pets for a fee. Located on the bay side of Plantation Key, the resort offers a fresh-water heated pool, 400-feet of sand beach, guest hammocks and WiFi that reaches to the beach.

Coconut Palm also provides two private docks, a boat ramp and kayak or paddle boat rentals. The Atlantic Ocean is a short boat ride away, and fishing or diving packages are available nearby.

Island Bay Resort

With just 10 west-facing cottages sitting along the Florida Bay, the Island Bay Resort offers stunning sunset shows nightly. Each cottage features its own individual Key West theme, and they all offer queen or king beds, a private deck and a kitchen and outdoor grill, perfect for cooking up the catch of the day.

Island Bay features a private beach on the bay as well as a lagoon adjacent to the beach. The resort furnishes beach chairs and hammocks for relaxing by the water, as well as tiki huts for some cooling shade. The Ocean Pointe Suites offer one- or two-bedroom units, complete with full kitchen and whirlpool tub. The 60-acre resort boasts a lush landscape full of native Floridian plants and trees as well as a private beach. Other outdoor amenities include a heated pool, lighted tennis courts, beach volleyball and kayak rentals on the property. Ocean Pointe features its own boardwalk for waterside walks and a marina with a boat ramp that can handle watercraft up to 28 feet.

Area activities include boating, fishing, snorkeling, diving and eco-tours of some of Florida's most endangered reefs and landscapes. Ocean Pointe also offers special packages in association with area businesses that can include reef snorkeling and deep-sea fishing.
