Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort
Founded in the 1880s, Villa Escudero is to this day a working plantation. While it was originally established to grow sugar cane, it became a coconut plantation in the early 1900s. The plantation also boasts the country's first working hydroelectric plant, built in 1929. Since 1981, the estate has been open to the public.
Guests at the Villa Escudero Plantation and Resort stay in riverside cabins or apartment-style accommodations, all of which are constructed using indigenous materials like bamboo. Rooms are available that will sleep up to 10 people, with three daily meals included in the price of lodging.
Native bamboo boats are available for relaxing on the resort's crystal-clear lake. Visitors can also take tours of the plantation facilities and learn how coconuts are harvested.
