Waterfront Restaurants in Tacoma, Washington
Located on Commencement Bay at the southern tip of Puget Sound, downtown Tacoma offers a variety of waterfront restaurants where visitors and residents can enjoy panoramic views. Point Defiance Park is located just west of many of the restaurants on Ruston Way and offers 702 acres of saltwater beaches, hiking and running trails, kayak rentals, go-carts and a boathouse marina. At the Point Defiance Marina, activities include a fishing pier and boat rentals.

Anthony's at Point Defiance

Anthony's at Point Defiance is located next to the ferry terminal with service to Vashon Island and is also near the Point Defiance Zoo. Outdoor dining is available seasonally, and brunch is served Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is served daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dinner service continues from 4 to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays and weeknights and 10:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. Menu offerings vary daily, but samples include appetizers such as Dabob Bay Manila clams, salads such as hearts of Romaine, seafood entrees such as halibut and chips or pan-fried oysters, along with chicken and beef selections. Parking is free, and guests arriving by boat receive complimentary moorage while dining at Anthony's.

Katie Downs Tavern & Eatery

Since 1982, Katie Downs Tavern and Eatery has served pizza, burgers and seafood at their waterfront location overlooking Commencement Bay. Katie Downs is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Happy hour specials such as half-price appetizers are served weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Appetizers include crab cakes and steamer clams, salads include grilled chicken Caesar and prawn spinach, pizzas are baked in a 12-inch deep dish pan, burgers come in 10 versions, and seafood and steak entrees complete the menu. Because of its status as a tavern, diners must be at least 21 years of age.

Lobster Shop South on Commencement Bay

The Lobster Shop South on Commencement Bay opened in 1981 as an expansion of the original Lobster Shop in the Dash Point neighborhood. Hours of operation are from 11:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. for lunch Monday through Saturday, and dinner is served from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., while brunch is the only meal served from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. During the summer, outdoor deck seating is available, although this area is not open for advance reservations. Dishes include Ahi tuna, lobster bisque, Alaskan sea scallops, crab cakes, prime rib and rack of lamb.
