Santa Monica sits north of the Los Angeles sprawl, tucked between natural wonders for the outdoor enthusiast to explore. With the Pacific Coast right in front of it (and home to the famous Santa Monica Pier), Santa Monica also lies just south of Topanga State Park and the Santa Monica Mountains, with many camping, hiking and cycling opportunities. J & T European Gourmet Food

J & T European Gourmet Food, a small shop located in a strip mall, offers an extensive lunch menu of authentic German food, plus many imported items to take home. For lunch, the deli offers sandwiches and sausages but also has a list of hot entrees, including a Bratwurst plate with potato salad and freshly-made sauerkraut. Another specialty item is Kassler, a smoked pork chop served with a choice of German sides. To-go dishes include a German Party Tray, which features German cold cuts and cheese, including bierwurst, gelbwurst, jagdwurst and salami.

Warszawa

Warszawa presents specialty dinners from Germany, Poland and Eastern Europe. With a clean, open layout, along with a patio where guests can also eat, Warszawa matches its upscale decor with a rich menu of meat dishes. Specialties include pork schnitzel over a leek puree and veal with eggdrop dumplings. Rainbow trout also highlights the menu served one of three ways for diners. Choose from a selection of German and Polish wines.

Chalet Edelweiss

With an open decor surrounding a bar and brass hearth, Chalet Edelweiss is a Swiss restaurant with a special menu of German fare located just south of Santa Monica. In addition to a stocked bar of German beers, the restaurant offers its own take on German favorites, including Rahmschnitzel with Spätzle, a German noodle platter with mushroom cream sauce and either a pork or chicken topper; and Rheinland Saft-Gulasch mit Spätzle und Rotkraut, which is a beef and pork stew, made in red wine and poured over Spätzle. The restaurant also offers a fondue menu with both Swiss and German cheeses.
