Thai Bamboo
The brainchild of Tom and Matavee Burgess, Thai Bamboo has grown in 10 years from its original Spokane Valley location to four restaurants throughout the Spokane area. Both Tom and Matavee promote the gospel of "looking and feeling better" through eating Thai. The menu offers fresh ingredients and seafood, black brown Thai rice and a number of vegetarian entrees (Phad Ma Kheu with eggplant is a specialty.) Regulars savor the Phad Thai, fresh rolls with spicy peanut sauce or the "Swimming Rama" with Thai Ice Tea.

Bangkok Thai
With two near-downtown Spokane locations, including one blocks off the Centennial Trail on the Spokane River, Bangkok Thai offers romantic ambience, elegant cuisine and creative presentation. Try the "Crab in the Blanket" and "Yum Woon Sen" salad as starters and one of the curry dishes (spice can be adjusted on a 1-to-5 scale) as a main course. Tofu can be substituted for many of the chicken, beef or seafood entrees.

Sala Thai
Sala Thai makes a great pit stop on the way back to Spokane from biking the Columbia Plateau Trail or hiking Deep Creek. Located in a tiny strip mall on Highway Two in Airway Heights, what Sala Thai lacks in ambience it makes up for in cuisine. Portions are doggy-bag size and the menu includes a mix of salad, curries and noodle dishes. Devour the Phad Kee Moo (rice noodle stir fry) and the Garlic Salmon. Price-conscious diners love the $7.50 lunch special, which includes soup.
