Resorts on the West Side of the Dominican Republic

Resorts on the West Side of the Dominican Republic
Pristine waters, clear blue sky and a warm, gentle sun are the reasons millions of tourists flock to the Dominican Republic each year. The island nation is neighbored by Haiti on the west, and its southwest beaches offer exclusive beachfront accommodations far from the off-the-beaten-path all-inclusive resort circuit.

Hotel Costa Larimar

The town of Barahona sits by a horseshoe bay in the southwest corner of the Dominican Republic. Visitors can venture to the virtually untouched beach of Bahia de las Aguilas nearby to walk for miles on white sand. The Hotel Costa Larimar is aptly named for the turquoise blue stone found in this region. The scuba diving in this area is phenomenal, mainly because the coral and sea life are protected by the bay of Pedernales. The rooms are spacious and bright, and most have private balcony views of the turquoise water below. The resort has an incredibly friendly staff and serves innovative gourmet meals blending Dominican, American and international cuisines.
