Washington, D.C. is an important destination for anyone wishing to RV through the United States. In addition to the historic attractions at the U.S. Capitol, it's home to several museums, like the Smithsonian Institute. The surrounding area is home to the Chesapeake Bay, several military attractions and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Cherry Hill Park

Cherry Hill RV Park is located just 16 miles from Washington, D.C. It's a great home base for exploring DC because a city bus departs hourly dropping guests directly at the subway station, which runs around the clock. D.C.'s subway is color coded and very easy to use. Each route heads straight into the city. This park features 400 tent camping and RV sites, each with 30- or 50-amp electrical hookups, water and sewage. Clean bathrooms and showers are available at the park, as well as a carpeted laundry room, firewood and propane refills. The park provides cable television hookups and free wireless Internet access.

Capitol KOA Campground

The capitol KOA Campground is located on 50 acres of quiet, wooded countryside with rolling hills and plenty of amenities. This park is just minutes from the Washington, D.C. attractions as well as historic Annapolis, The Inner Harbor, Fort McHenry, Camden Yards and the Babe Ruth Museum. In the summer, KOA provides a guest shuttle into DC. A variety of sites are available. Wooded sites provide privacy and shade with fire rings and picnic tables. Pull-through sites up to 70 feet are easier for large rigs to get in and out of. Various cabins, lodges and tent sites are available, too. At the park, visitors enjoy free wireless Internet, a camp store, coffee bar, a lifeguarded swimming pool, basketball, horseshoes, a playground, billiards, ping pong, giant chess and giant checkers, tetherball and a nature trail. The park plans family-oriented activities regularly throughout the summer, like outdoor movies, ice cream socials, family games, group hikes and excursions.

Ramblin' Pines

The Ramblin' Pines Campground is located in the hills of Woodbine, Maryland, just outside of Baltimore. The campground is a park-like environment and offers horseshoes, swimming, nature trails. 200 RV sites provide electricity, water and sewage hookups for RVs up to 60 feet. Some pull-through sites and wide sites are available, to accommodate slide outs. In addition to RV sites, this camp has cabins and a group picnic pavilion. During the summer, on weekends and holidays, planned recreational activities help bring families together like games, hayrides and live entertainment.
