Founded in 1730, Smithfield, RI is a quaint New England town with scattered lakes and ponds, apple orchards and pristine forest lands. This idyllic suburban town was named after Smithfield, London and is located only 15 minutes away from Downtown Providence and less than an hour away from Boston. Explore the many lakes and ponds through canoeing, kayaking or swimming. Hike through the ample wooded lands throughout the town. Visit the historic Smith-Appleby House, which was a stone-ender built in 1696. Go apple picking at one of the several apple orchards, including Jaswell's. Whether you are passing through 'Apple Valley' or visiting for the day, Smithfield will provide a glimpse into the original colonial settlers way of life. After a day of exploration, sit down for a fine Italian meal.

This casual restaurant offers traditional Italian dishes in a warm and inviting surroundings. Dine on fried calamari, pizzas, raviolis, roasted pork loin and apple walnut stuffing and veal parmesan, to name a few. Choose from a broad range of wines. D Carlo Trattoria is open for dinner six days a week and weekday lunch, however they are closed on Sundays. Casual attire is acceptable in this family-friendly establishment. Dishes are under $25.

This family-friendly, neighborhood bar and grill offers a vast menu of American favorites, as well as a few Italian dishes.
