Fairhaven is a historic waterfront neighborhood of Bellingham, home of Western Washington University, located approximately 90 miles north of Seattle and 30 miles south of the Canadian border. Outdoor recreation includes 2.3-mile South Bay Trail, linking Fairhaven to downtown Bellingham, and Fairhaven Park, featuring walking trails, a salmon creek, and sports courts. 2,683-acre Larrabee State Park is located six miles south of Fairhaven on scenic Chuckanut Drive and features 8,100 feet of beach access.

Fairhaven Village Inn offers 22 guest rooms with complimentary continental breakfast, down comforters, bathrobes, and internet access. Bayside rooms feature water views from private decks, a fireplace with reading chairs, a sofa bed, and one king or two queen beds. Parkside rooms have park views, a writing desk, two club chairs, sofa bed, and two queens or one king bed. Suites feature two rooms divided by French doors, a dining table for ten, jetted tub, fireplace, king size bed, and a desk. The hotel features a morning room, library, and outdoor porch and is located downtown Fairhaven near shops and 20 restaurants, including a tea room, and Mexican and Italian fare. Room rates in 2010 start at $179 per night in the summer and $159 from October through May. Certain dates require a two-night minimum stay and children under age 13 are free with adults in the same room.
