Wilmington, the largest city of Delaware and occupying the northeast corner of the state, is about 30 miles from Philadelphia. Wilmington is on the western bank of the Delaware River, where it meets the Christina River adjoining the Brandywine Creek. Brandywine Creek State Park offers hikers 14 miles of trails, with the Greenways Trail meandering along the creek. Fishing, birding, canoeing and cross-country skiing are also outdoor activities to enjoy in the park.

Big Fish Grill on the Riverfront Restaurant, on the Christina River, includes several menus. Happy hour, with drink and appetizer specials, is seven days a week, only at the bar, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday night, Oyster Night, has oyster specials. Wednesday night is Lobster Night, with lobster specials. The restaurant has daily lunch and dinner specials. Lunch and dinner menus include a variety of salads, entree salads (with chicken and seafood), entrees (breaded or grilled) and homemade sides, including vegetables.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, originally the Sardo Warehouse, offers New American cuisine, including salads, entrees, pizzas, sandwiches and soups. It is a two-level restaurant facing the Christina River, with the first level including an 80-seat dining area, 60 seats at the bar and an in-season, 100-seat dining porch. The second level has a bar, a banquet room and a 100-seat patio with a bar.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant offers a gluten-free menu, with healthy selections consisting of grilled chicken, grilled sirloin and fish items. Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant offers a kids' menu. It also has house beers such as light, lager, porter and ales.

Harry's Seafood Grill

Harry's Seafood Grill, an award-winning restaurant, is located on Wilmington's riverfront. It is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and reservations are suggested.

For both lunch and dinner, Harry's Seafood Grill has an oyster bar and sashimi. Lunch menu includes ceviche, side salads, appetizers, steamers, soups, sandwiches, entrees and entree salads. Sample items include grilled king salmon, crabcakes, New England lobster roll and sauteed Nantucket Bay scallops. Menu varies somewhat every day.

Dinner menu includes side orders and fewer choices for sandwiches and more choices for lobster dishes. Sample items include lobster cioppino with rouille crouton, Cajun grilled hanger steak and crab cake, grilled chicken breast and grilled filet mignon.

Joe's Crab Shack, on the Christina River, is known for its Dungeness crab. Joe's Crab Shack menu includes steampots in a variety of seasonings, crab in a bucket in different flavorings, sandwiches and fried seafood. It is open seven days a week and offers a kids' menu.

Kooma Asian Fusion Sushi Bar

Kooma Asian Fusion Sushi Bar is a waterfront restaurant located on the Christina River in Wilmington. It offers sashimi, maki and sushi. The dinner menu includes appetizers, soups and salads, wraps, Kooma specialties, katsu, noodles and stir fry, tempura and desserts. The sushi menu alone includes about 85 items such as California roll, lobster tempura roll, lotus roll, fantasy tuna roll and Manhattan roll. Kooma is open every day for lunch and dinner.
