Shogun of Japan
Tyler's Shogun of Japan could easily be confused with the many hibachi grill Japanese steakhouses that are out there. But while the decor and the show put on by the cooks is traditional, Shogun goes away from just the steakhouse with an extensive selection of sushi. At Shogun diners will be able to get the standard yellowtail tuna, shrimp, calamari and eel sushi, along with vegetable and California rolls. Also on the menu, though, are many unique items, including Flying Fish egg sushi, quail egg sushi and sea urchin.

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse
Just up the road from Tyler in Longview, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse focuses its sushi menu on the basics of sashimi, but also tries to fuse some other Asian and American flavors in with it. On the menu are Unagidon, a barbecued eel dish topped with sweet eel sauce as well as a fusion roll, which is a tuna, salmon, snapper and shrimp roll covered with Kobe's own house sauces. With a habachi grill setup and Japanese decorated interior, Kobe also sticks to the traditional Japanese steakhouse fare with Teriaki dishes prepared at the table for diners.

Goung Zhou Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar
Goung Zhou goes away from the traditional Asian look inside its restaurant with few Japanese touches and more large pieces of modern art and spaces of bold color inside.
