Valley Forge National Historic Park offers something for the history buff as well as for those looking for outdoor activities. According to the National Park Service, the area has 21 miles of biking trails, some of which lead to historic sites where interpretive guides can talk about the encampment site of the American Continental Army. There are also hiking trails that connect Gen. George Washington's headquarters and the famous Appalachian Trail. Horseback riding, boating and fishing are some of the other activities Valley Forge offers.

Ruth's Chris Steak House

Situated next to the King of Prussia Mall, this top-notch chain delivers quality service and amazing steaks. The ribeyes and New York strip steaks are cooked at 1,800 degrees and brought to the table on a heated plate. The menu also includes blue-cheese-encrusted filets and generous portions of sweet potato casserole with a pecan crust.

Kimberton Inn

A short drive from Valley Forge is the Kimberton Inn, which serves as lodging, restaurant and tavern. Housed in a 1700's building, it is in the middle of gardens, streams and a duck pond. The menu features butternut squash risotto, molasses cured pork loin and the more classic items like Maryland crabcakes and filet mignon.

Creed's Seafood

Creed's serves seafood and steaks to a loyal crowd. There is even a frequent diner program that returns $50 for every $1,000 spent on dinner. Creed's has a raw bar that serves a "flight" of oysters with accompanying descriptions if you want to try something new. The oyster bar is half price on weekday afternoons. If you come for dinner, try lobster bisque or king salmon with chimichurri sauce and step up to the piano bar, featured every Friday and Saturday night.

Nectar

A little farther from the center of the National Park is Nectar, which received a place in Philadelphia Magazine's Top 50 Restaurants of 2009. The Philadelphia Inquirer's food critic also called Nectar "one of the year's best, " destined to become the Buddakan of the 'burbs." Described as French-Asian fusion, Nectar serves dim sum, bento boxes and some of the best sushi in the area. Nectar prides itself on using local farmers and fisherman for their cheeses, vegetables, meats and fish. There is also a Sunday brunch with a variety of choices from banana buttermilk pancakes to egg foo yong.
