Erminia Ristorante
The low-lit dining room of Erminia, on Manhattan's Upper East Side, is adorned with antiques, crisp white tablecloths and sparsely scattered chachkies. The bohemian vibe--modeled after an Alpine lodge-- is complete with wood paneling, exposed brick and sporadic tile mosaics. The kitchen serves up some of the city's most perfectly executed Italian dishes; the menu is a roster of familiar classics like shrimp scampi, veal chops, and a selection of pastas. The restaurant features many excellent appetizers including a delicate and decadent homemade mozzarella. The intimate ambiance makes for a perfect place to spend a romantic evening for two.

Il Buco
Il Buco, first opened as an antique shop and slowly evolved to become one of New York's most coveted dining destinations. Owned and operated by a husband and wife duo, the restaurant is notorious for inventive Italian dishes that focus on seasonal produce and high quality produce. The ingredients are the stars here, with many of the local suppliers featured prominently on the menu. The dining room pays homage to its antique-shop roots, with mismatched wooden tables, ceramics and rustic décor. Sporadic shelves, creating intimate nooks throughout the space with low lighting and intimate surroundings, divide the room. During the warmer months, tables are set up outside where diners enjoy their meals al-fresco.

The Place
Located on a tree-lined block in the West Village, The Place is a small and rustic restaurant. The 200-year old oak ceiling of the intimate dining room conveys an attitude more akin to a small chateau in the Mediterranean. The menu is constantly evolving to reflect the offerings at the market, but is constantly offering fine Mediterranean cuisine. The wine list is just as thoughtful, with plenty of selections offered by the glass, and at a variety of prices. The restaurant donates 10% of its profits to 20 different charities.
