Prescott is in Arizona's Central Mountains. Stroll through downtown and you will see some of the city's buildings that are among the more than 800 on the National Registry of Historic Places. Making your way through the Prescott National Forest on foot, by bike or horseback will be an outdoor adventure as there are more than 450 miles of recreational trails. Also, visit the Watson-Woods Riparian Preserve, a 125-acre cottonwood and willow tree forest which provides a home for a variety of wildlife such as heron and kingsnake. There are rental cabins which can make your stay in Prescott more comfortable.

Prescott Cabin Rentals on Onyx Drive has three cabins available which sleep four to 10 people. Amenities include full kitchen with dishwasher, washer, dryer and satellite or cable TV. Two cabins have a game room and fireplace. Near your cabin you will find plenty of options for hiking and exploring. The Mile High Trail System has 28 miles of trails. The Butte Creek Trail parallels the creek and runs through a scenic canyon. There are more than a dozen other trails to explore. Prescott also has more than a dozen parks for outdoor recreation.

Creekside Preserve

Creekside Preserve is just outside of Prescott in neighboring Mayer. All cabins are furnished, have a creek view and include a fireplace, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and cable TV. Creekside is designed to have an old west setting and is surrounded by a high desert. There you will find desert vegetation, rock outcroppings and boulders. While exploring the property, you may discover an old mine or abandoned ranch house. Creekside offers lessons in gold panning and prospecting which will come in handy if you take a gold panning trip in the ghost town of McCabe, 33 miles away.

Prescott Log Cabin B & B

Prescott Log Cabin B & B is located in Prescott's historic Granite Dells which has 1.5 billion-year-old rock formations. The building is one large, 4,250-square-foot cabin, which is described as rustic and romantic. There are four guest rooms. Each bedroom has a bathroom and small refrigerator. When you venture into town be sure to visit Whiskey Row and the Palace where Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday once visited. Getting back to nature might take you to Goldwater Lake where you can fish, boat, canoe, kayak, swim or hike. Lynx Lake is another great area to visit. It is a part of Prescott National Forest. Swimming is not allowed there but you can fish, boat, camp and hike.
