Chesapeake Bay, an estuary, is a body of water formed from a salt and fresh water mix. It is one of 130 in the United States and is the largest. Alongside Chesapeake Bay is First Landing Park, offering fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking and camping. Access to False Cape State Park for boating, biking and hiking is through the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. After outdoor activities, visitors and locals can enjoy seafood restaurants on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.

Alexander's on the Bay

Guests can enjoy an expansive view of the Chesapeake Bay while dining in Alexander's on the Bay. It offers a variety of local seafood with such dishes as Lobster Napoli, Shrimp Scampi, Broiled Flounder and Escargot. Desserts include Cheese Cake De Jour, Lemon Sorbet and Irish Cream Pie. Wine selection is by the glass or by the bottle.

The restaurant has a private room for wedding receptions, corporate groups, business meetings and private parties. Catering staff is available to help with details. In season, outdoor seating is available.

Chick's Oyster Bar

Chick's Oyster Bar is located on an inlet of the Chesapeake Bay on the Lynnhaven River, just minutes by boat from the Chesapeake Bay. Chick's Oyster Bar offers, "The CHX Marina," (the "CHX" indicates one of Chick's specialty items), serving six to eight.

Sunday brunch, with a Bloody Mary bar, is served from 10 a.m. to noon. A wide variety of menu items include salads, pastas, desserts, fresh seafood and steaks, burgers and sandwiches, soups, wraps and Tex Mex.

Hot Tuna Restaurant Bar & Grill

Hot Tuna Restaurant Bar & Grill, a non-smoking facility, serves seafood. Fresh ingredients, choice cut steaks and local produce are also used in Hot Tuna Restaurant Bar & Grill's food. Desserts are homemade. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, live music is playing and outdoor deck seating is available. "Southern Living" magazine says Hot Tuna Restaurant Bar & Grill is a "must see" in Virginia Beach.

A private party room, for all occasions, is available for up to 55 guests. Wines from Australia, California, France, Virginia and New Zealand are available. Domestic or international beers are available, tap or bottle.

Lynnhaven Fish House

Lynnhaven Fish House's dining room overlooks the Chesapeake Bay. The Starfish Room is available for private parties. Lunch and dinner are served with a children's menu.

Diners' fresh catch fish can be prepared in a variety of sauces, such as a bourbon sauce, Mediterranean or Cajun-style. Seafood specialties include Oysters Rockefeller, Linguine Pescatore, Seafood Kebab, King Neptune's Banquet and Herb Crusted Ruby Red Snapper. Lighter fare entrees, such as Shrimp Salad, Crabmeat Salad and Mediterranean Salad, are also on the menu. Lynnhaven Fish House is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Lunch hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday brunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
