Although Reno is primarily known as a gambling destination, plenty of activities are outside of the city's casinos. Reno's proximity to Lake Tahoe makes it attractive to guests who want to enjoy skiing, sledding and tubing. Reno also offers public golf courses, hiking trails and state parks where visitors can enjoy the area's scenic beauty. Between activities, you can stop for a fine meal at one of the city's Italian restaurants.

La Strada

La Strada is an upscale Italian restaurant located in the Eldorado Hotel and Casino. Shareable appetizers include seared beef carpaccio, fried calamari and prosciutto-wrapped prawns. It also has numerous pasta dishes to choose from, including mushroom ravioli, linguine and clams, sausage rigatoncini and eggplant parmigiana. Guests can also choose from entrees such as grilled mahi mahi, grilled quail and New York strip or filet mignon with salsa verde. This restaurant also features an extensive wine list that has won numerous Wine Spectator awards. La Strada is open for dinner Friday through Tuesday and is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Reservations are recommended.

La Vecchia Ristorante

La Vecchia Ristorante provides an elegant setting in which guests can enjoy a variety of Italian specialties. The restaurant's wine list offers dozens of regional and imported selections, including a selection of sparkling wines and world-renowned wines such as Dom Perignon Cuvee and Opus One Napa Mondavi-Rothschild. Pasta entrees include spinach ravioli, lasagna and cappellini pomodoro. Other choices include veal with roasted eggplant, piccata chicken, poached Atlantic salmon and Alaskan halibut. This restaurant is open for lunch Monday through Friday and for dinner seven days a week. Reservations are recommended for dinner.

Zozo's Ristorante

Zozo's Ristorante offers Italian comfort food in a casual atmosphere. The menu features appetizers such as grilled polenta, escargot in sherry butter, garlic prawns and calamari. Vegetarian guests can choose from entrees such as grilled eggplant, spinach manicotti, vegetarian lasagna and mushroom ravioli. Other options include chicken marsala, veal Portofino and sautéed calamari steak. Zozo's Ristorante also offers a variety of wines and domestic and imported beers. This restaurant serves dinner every evening and is open for lunch Monday through Friday. Reservations are encouraged for dinner.
