Chimney Rock, a small village of 175 residents, is located in the mountains of western North Carolina. Chimney Rock borders the town of Lake Lure with a lake by the same name. Chimney Rock Park offers five hiking trails with rock climbing and unique plant life. Hickory Nut Gorge has some of the highest waterfalls in North Carolina. You also can hike in Florence Preserve and climb rocks on Rumbling Bald.

Chimney Rock Inn

Chimney Rock Inn is located across the street from the Rocky Broad River. Guest rooms open to an outdoor deck overlooking the mountains. In-room amenities include cable TV with HBO, heated outdoor swimming pool, picnic tables and barbecue grills.

Five Sweetheart cottages are also available. The Mimosa and Misty Mountain cottages have a Jacuzzi tub and fireplaces. The Riverview and Riverside cottages have wood-burning fireplaces. Misty Mountain, Riverview and Riverside cottages all have kitchens.

Guests can swim in the Rocky Broad River, called "The swimming hole." You can enjoy viewing the large boulders on a river walk around Chimney Rock.

Esmeralda Inn

The Esmeralda Inn, with 14 guest rooms, is in Chimney Rock. Deluxe guest rooms offer luxury bed linens, Ethan Allen furniture, 32-inch flat panel TV, Bose music systems, complimentary high-speed Internet access and local calls.

Mountain-view guest rooms offer views of Rocky Broad River, Chimney Rock and Hickory Nut Gorge plus other amenities of the deluxe guest rooms listed above. Premium mountain-view rooms offer more space than the mountain-view guest rooms. The terrace king rooms have additional space and direct access to a second-floor terrace.

Complimentary coffee and tea are served in the lobby daily from 8 to 10 a.m. Each evening, a wine-and-cheese reception is available. Traditional American cuisine is served by the Parise's New American Bistro for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Evening Shade River Lodge & Cabins

Evening Shade River Lodge & Cabins has 13 guest rooms and three cabins. The Deer Hallow and Hickory Nut bungalows sleep four, while the Moose Lodge sleeps two; all have kitchens. Guest rooms have a cabin-style country motif, and some have a knotty pine interior with a view of the river.

Guest room amenities include Wi-Fi Internet access, microwave, cable TV and mini-refrigerator. Some guest rooms have a sofa sleeper. The cabins are across the road or in Bat Cave. The River Cottage sleeps four, Waterfall Cabin sleeps five and the Lazy Lodge sleeps eight.

Fibber Magee's Riverfront Inn

Fibber Magee's Riverfront Inn is located between Lake Lure and the Chimney Rock village along the Rocky Broad River. Eighteen holes of mini golf along the river can be played on site. Some of the nine guest rooms and suites have a river view. Also, several cottages are available for rental.

Non-smoking guest rooms include complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, private baths, coffeemaker and complimentary breakfast. Some rooms have Jacuzzis, mini-refrigerator and microwave.
