Motels in Appling, Georgia

Motels in Appling, Georgia
Appling, Ga., is part of the Augusta metropolitan area and is the seat of Columbia County. Appling is among the more than 100 inactive municipalities in Georgia that lost their corporate status after passage of a 1993 state law that requires cities to provide a minimum of three municipal services like trash collection and water.

Appling was almost completely destroyed by a tornado in 1873 and is the site of historic earthquake activity. The Kiokee Creek travels throughout Appling, and the J. Strom Thurmond Lake and Dam at Clark Hill is located nearby, offering visitors to Appling chances to fish, wade and boat. No motels are within Appling; they are instead located in nearby Thomson.
