Hotels in West Point, New York

The name West Point is synonymous with the United States Military Academy. Rich in history and tradition, West Point sits on scenic high ground overlooking the Hudson River approximately 50 miles north of New York City. The entire campus and its surroundings are national landmarks and the Gothic buildings are constructed from granite mined locally. West Point is one of the area's primary tourist attractions and you can check the school's website to see if the cadets will be on parade when you visit.

Hikers can stroll the expansive grounds of the academy, or you may want to drive the short distance to Black Rock Forest, located just a few miles from West Point. Black Rock is a 4,000-acre living laboratory for field-based scientific research and is open to hiking and cross-country skiing. Bear Mountain State Park is also nearby, offering hiking trails, picnic areas and paddle boats on Hessian Lake.
