Romantic Restaurants in Appleton, Wisconsin

Romantic Restaurants in Appleton, Wisconsin
Located on the banks of the Fox River, Appleton, Wis., is best described as a pleasant place to live. With a small, diverse population, Appleton has many parks, museums (including a museum devoted to Appleton-native Harry Houdini), quality restaurants and shopping areas. While Appleton itself is still growing, there are many rural areas and places for nature to thrive. Wildflowers line roads, and many birds and wildlife inhabit the area, particularly near the river and close by Lake Winnebago. Going out for a romantic meal is easy in this ideal setting. Many restaurants have water views or are in culturally interesting areas where theaters and other artistic venues thrive.

Black and Tan Grille

Located just one block away from the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, the Black and Tan Grille of Appleton specializes in classic contemporary American cuisine. Relax in the lounge with a martini and an appetizer of fresh blackened tuna served with a ginger slaw, wasabi coulis and carmelized soy or some homemade fresh mozzarella with French crostini, prosciutto and honey walnuts. Indulge yourself with a tenderloin and short rib wellington--choice cuts of beef and fontina encased in puff pastry and laid on a bed of kale and touched with a braise reduction sauce. Other entrees include Pacific salmon, halibut with braised leeks and butter poached shrimp, ahi tuna, and a grilled New Zealand rack of lamb. Premier wines and specialty martinis will complete your romantic and decadent evening.

The Melting Pot

From cheese to chocolate, the Melting Pot is a romantic place to stew over a fondue pot. Choose a fondue feast that takes the best of Swiss, French and German offerings. Appropriately named the "Fondue Feast," this meal features filet mignon, sauerbraten NY Strip, Nueske's applewood smoked bratwurst, Hefeweizen marinated shrimp, roasted garlic-crusted chicken, sun-dried tomato ravioli and fresh vegetables. Desserts range from pure chocolate fondues to a bananas Foster fondue, swirled with white chocolate. To make a night even more romantic, call ahead and ask about its celebration packages, which come with roses and--for even more fun--a limousine.
