Murray Hill, a neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, is bounded by East 34th Street, East 42nd Street, Madison Avenue and the East River. Also known as Lower Midtown East, Murray Hill is home to the United Nations, Grand Central Station and the Chrysler Building. Several educational and cultural institutions such as the Stern College for Women and the Oxford University Press are in this area. If your time in New York City is limited, then staying in the Murray Hill area and confining your travels within its borders will offer several days of adventure. Since New York is the largest urban center in the country, the best hikes are through the city canyons. From Murray Hill, head west to Broadway, then turn south, enjoying one of the city's brightest thoroughfares all the way down to Battery Park at the tip of Manhattan.
