Riverside Hotels in Ohio

Riverside Hotels in Ohio
Ohio has a number of beautiful rivers that flow through it and around it and, naturally, innkeepers and travelers are drawn to the beauty of the flowing water. Historic towns sprung up on the banks of those rivers as well. The rivers make watersports, boating, and fishing popular, and there are hiking and all purpose trails that follow the banks in many areas as well.

The Lafayette Hotel Marietta

The Lafayette Hotel bills itself as "a grand riverboat era hotel," and that is a fitting description for the property. On the National Register of Historic Buildings, the property was built in 1918 in a distinct triangle shape that mimics the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. The hotel has a rich history and even has watermarks in the lobby that show how high the great floods of the 1930s were. Historic though it is, the hotel has been updated and features a full business center, wireless internet service and cable TV with HBO. Located nearby is the popular City Trails series of hiking routes, and also there are historical sites and museums in close proximity to the hotel. Nightly rates in 2009 range from $55 to $280, depending on accommodations desired.
