Adelphi Hotel

You can visit an area called Saratoga Springs, N.Y., about 33 miles north of Albany and once home to many of America's wealthiest families and celebrities. An abandoned, red building scheduled for demolition in 1979 caught Sheila Parkert's attention who rescued and purchased the Adelphi. Built in 1877 in an Italian villa style, the four-story Adelphi features arched windows, hand-stenciled walls and ceilings and Victorian architecture. You can choose among 39, individually decorated guest rooms at the Adelphi Hotel, including styles like French Provincial, Victorian Country, Adirondack and Folk Art. These guest rooms range in size from small bedrooms to large suites. All rooms have unusually high windows and ceilings, custom bedding, luxurious window treatments, large vanities and full bathrooms. Modern conveniences include free Wi-Fi and cable television.
