Thai Restaurants in Urbana, Illinois

Thai Restaurants in Urbana, Illinois
One of the most popular types of food for college kids these days is Thai, which is a good thing for the University of Illinois students, because Urbana has some of the finest Thai cuisine in central Illinois. Urbana is a crowded college town, but there are many parks in and around the campus area with hiking trails, too.

Siam Terrace

The most popular Thai restaurant in the University of Illinois area is Siam Terrace. This restaurant has a posh decor and main dishes that cost over $11. But for the atmosphere, the tastes and the service, Siam Terrace is well worth the extra dollars. Siam Terrace also takes reservations, which are encouraged on weekends especially. Located in downtown Urbana, Siam Terrace is just a few blocks south of Crystal Lake Park.

Basil Thai

For easy take-out or a fun dine-in atmosphere, Basil Thai is Urbana's hot spot for hungry college kids. Basil Thai is located on the eastern edge of the University of Illinois campus, near the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Thara Thai

Technically located in Champaign, Thara Thai is located just off of highway 74. This is a great family stop for visitors to the University of Illinois, with main dishes costing less than $10 per plate. The space is small and humble, but the curry dishes are highly regarded by both students and out-of-towners. Just west of Thara Thai is Dodds Park, a part of the quaint Champaign Park District.
