With ample opportunity for hiking, biking and viewing wildlife, Chesterfield, Missouri, is an excellent destination for outdoor enthusiasts looking to stay near the bustle of St. Louis but with the quiet ambiance of a small town. Nearby Castlewood State Park is home to three trails, while Chesterfield Wetlands features trails for viewing nature. Because of the high number of immigrants entering the St. Louis area in the early 1900s through the 1960s, Chesterfield also offers its own spin on several ethnic cuisines, including several locally owned Chinese restaurants.

Emperor's Palace

Located just two blocks from the Chesterfield Levee Trail and just six blocks from the Chesterfield Valley Athletic Complex, Emperor's Palace is in a convenient location for those wanting to enjoy a casual meal after a long day hiking or biking. The large restaurant offers a fusion of Chinese, American Chinese, Mongolian barbecue, Vietnamese, American and several Asian cuisines. The open kitchen allows customers to watch the chefs prepare menu and buffet dishes. The restaurant also offers a buffet, appetizers and desserts, along with a children's menu.

The menu at Emperor's Palace offers traditional Chinese fare such as cashew chicken, Szechuan beef and noodle dishes along with specialty chef-created items such as spicy beef and scallops, crispy pork with sweet sauce and Peking duck. The lunch and dinner buffets are available daily, and a full bar is open each evening. Reservations are not required. Dress code is casual to dressy casual.

Hunan Empress

Nestled into the Four Seasons Shopping Center in Chesterfield, Hunan Empress is just seven miles from Castlewood State Park's three hiking and mountain biking trails. The cuisine is a combination of Beijing, Szechuan, Mongolian, Hunan, Shanghai and Cantonese dishes. The restaurant features entrees such as sizzling four musketeers with sauteed beef, scallops, shrimp and chicken with vegetables, as well as standard fare such as seafood delight, cashew chicken and General Tso's chicken. Hunan Empress offers a children's menu as well as catering and business luncheons.

Hunan Empress is open daily for lunch and dinner. Recommended dress is casual, and reservations are not required.

Also located in the Four Seasons Shopping Center, St. Louis First Mongolian Barbecue offers a wide selection of fresh vegetables, meats, sauces and seasonings that guests can use to create their own signature dish. Customers assemble ingredients into a bowl, and the chef cooks the food on a Mongolian grill. Diners can choose fried rice, steamed rice or chow mein noodles to accompany their creations. Appetizers are also available on the buffet. The restaurant also offers express service for lunch or dinner, which allows guests one trip through the buffet available for dine-in or carry-out.
