Whether you go mountain biking in the nearby Hilltop Reservation or hike the Lenape Trail that leads along many historical sites, such as Kips Castle and Riker Hill Fossil Site, there is plenty to see in and around Verona, New Jersey. Additionally, Verona Park, a former swamp, has a 13-acre lake that has both boating and fishing facilities, numerous fields and a large gazebo for outdoor concerts in the heart of the park. Verona also has plenty of dining options for when you work up an appetite.

Go Italian at Trattoria Belle Gente

With its easy elegance, yet casual atmosphere, Trattoria Belle Gente serves up fine Italian fare along with wood-fired, brick oven pizzas. Try its namesake pie with the simple but freshly flavorful ingredients of arugula, tomatoes, capers, mozzarella and tomato sauce. Also worth considering are the specialties, like the Zuppa di Pesce (linguini with seafood), Vitello alla Milanese (breaded and sautéed veal) and Pollo Valdostana (a chicken breast stuffed with fontina and prosciutto). There are plenty of vegetarian options like Penne Bella Gente (tomatoes, zucchini and basil) or the generously sized Cesare salad.
