Thomaston, Georgia is a mid-size community in the west-central region of the state. It was named after General Jett Thomas, who fought in the War of 1812. Thomaston is reminiscent of a town from a bygone era, with locally owned barber shops, general stores, and diners lining the main streets. The nearby Flint River affords many opportunities for fishing, canoeing and camping.

Pine Mountain RV Resort

The Pine Mountain Resort is tucked away in pine and oak trees and offers guests a full range of amenities. Hook-ups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. There are pull-through sites to accommodate large RVs and those with slide outs. Guests can enjoy a fitness center, swimming pool, laundry room, showers, private toilets, general store, wine bar and cafe, Wii game room and television room with a 42" TV. Pets are welcome here and four legged visitors can use the "Bark Park" for off leash play. Credit cards are accepted, and day, week or longer rates are available.

Flat Creek Campground

The Flat Creek Campground has full hook-ups (water, sewer, 30- and 50- amp electric) with pull-through sites. Day, week and monthly rates are available. There is fishing available at the nearby Whooping Creek, which also has good white water paddling. Sites are shaded by the surrounding woods. Pets are allowed. The Flat Creek Campground is near golf courses and shopping in nearby Thomaston.
