Texas Gulf Coast RV Resorts

Texas Gulf Coast RV Resorts
The Texas Gulf Coast presents several opportunities for fun and adventure for those who enjoy the RV life. The waters along the coast can be rough enough to get in some good surfing or placid enough to drop a line and reel in some delicious fish to fry up for dinner. The abundance of wildlife around this area of Texas is also a big draw for those who prefer to vacation out in the natural beauty of the wilderness.

Galveston Island State Park

Galveston Island State Park features 120 RV-only sites. Each site includes a picnic table, grill and most sites also include a fire ring. The activities along this stretch of beach include fishing and swimming. Trails also are in place for hiking and biking; be sure to bring along your binoculars and guide book to fill in some bird watching information. A bathhouse is located on the beach and there are outdoor showers, a gift shop and a shelter at which you can clean those fish you caught. Pets are allowed on a leash, but be very cautious when you walk your animal because poisonous snakes are indigenous to the area.

Pioneer RV Resort

You'll find 361 RV-only sites at Pioneer RV Resort in the birdwatcher's paradise of Port Aransas on Mustang Island. If looking for birds isn't your idea of fun, schedule an excursion for some deep sea fishing.

In addition to some average sized sites, there are also some premium areas that
are not only larger, but provide more quiet and solitude. These premium sites are also closer to the beach. The Pioneer RV Resort is anything but pure pioneer-style camping; activities include bunco tournaments, golf, dancing, cribbage, aerobics and even quilting. Nearby attractions range from taking a tour of the USS Lexington aircraft carrier to placing bets at the Corpus Christ greyhound racing track.

Long Island Village

About the last RV campground you can hit in Texas before you get to Mexico is Long Island Village near Port Isabel. Settle your vehicle into one of 200 RV-only sites that each come with a concrete pad and picnic table. Nearby attractions include Padre Island National Seashore where you thrill to the site of dolphins soaring through the air. Recreation at Long Island Village includes an 18-hole par-3 golf course, miniature golf, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and shuffleboard. There is also a rec room with a pool table, library, fitness center and sauna. You won't find much shade so you might want to avoid coming here in the middle of summer if you can't stand the heat and humidity of being near the Texas/Mexican border. Security is excellent with gates and water providing boundaries.
