Shelbyville, Texas, is a small community in east Texas. Shelbyville was originally named Nashville, but was renamed in 1837 to honor the governor of Kentucky, Isaac Shelby. Shelbyville is near the Sabine and Angelina National Forests, where hiking, fishing, camping and boating opportunities abound.

Huxley Bay Marina and RV Park

The Huxley Bay Marina and RV Park is on the north end of Toledo Bay Reservoir. Huxley Bay offers RV guests sites with 30- or 50- amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV hookups. Most sites are on the waterfront, and larger RVs can be accommodated. On-site amenities include showers, private toilets, a playground for the kids and a guest house with a small kitchen facility. Pets are welcome, and there is a small pet-walk area. Guests can take advantage of boat rentals and water skiing at the marina.

Lake Sam Rayburn KOA

Just minutes from Shelbyville is the Lake Sam Rayburn KOA. On 100 acres of oak and pine forest, the KOA offers guests full 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi hookups in a quiet, forest setting. RVs of all sizes can be accommodated, including those with slide-outs. Pets are welcome. Good Sam and AAA club discounts are available. On-site amenities include a swimming pool, hot showers, private toilets, guest house, coin-operated laundry, playground and barbecue grills. A small pet walk is on the grounds. Guests can enjoy the national forests, which are only a few miles away.

Powell Park RV and Marina

A short drive from downtown Shelbyville is the Powell Park RV and Marina. All hookups are available (30- and 50-amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV) at each site. Larger RVs can take advantage of the pull-through sites. Picnic tables, barbecue grills and fire rings are available at most sites. Pets are welcome, and there is a pet play area. There is a covered group shelter and volleyball, basketball and horseshoes are all on site. Boat rentals are available at the marina. Reservations are recommended during the summer months and on holiday weekends.
