A spectacular vista awaits you at Dovetail Log Cabin. Built into the side of a cliff, the cabin has large windows allowing for unparalleled views over the bay and mountain range. The kitchen and dining area are on the main floor, which has a large bay window overlooking the surrounding land. The Dovetail Log Cabin sleeps 8 people and is ideal for family or group vacations. Rental rates start at $295 per night and range up to $345 per night, including the optional bunk room. Outside the cabin there is a sun deck complete with a barbecue perfect for camp-style cookouts. Close by are several fishing spots and endless hiking opportunities. In town, chartered fishing trips operate on a daily basis.

The Moose Caboose

If you are in the mood for something a bit more uncommon, the Moose Caboose is a renovated Pullman Rail Car that has been adapted into a comfortable adventure cabin with a difference. At over 50 feet long, it has plenty of room and features a full kitchen, bathroom, living area and a bedroom complete with a picture window. The cabin also has a sofa bed in the living room, allowing for a maximum of four people to rent it at any given time. In addition to the main car there is a lower level that comes complete with its own kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living area that is able to accommodate another four people. Rates for the Moose Caboose begin at $245 per night for the rail car and go up to $295 per night to include the lower level cabin. There is also an outside deck for al fresco dining. The Moose Caboose is located close to the town of Homer and also near to Homer Spit, the original site of Homer Pennock's homestead.

Quiet Place Lodge

Approximately 6 miles outside of Homer is Quiet Place Lodge at the water's edge of Halibut Cove. In this part of the Alaskan wilderness there are no cars or roads and the only way to reach the lodge is by boat. In addition to the main lodge there are several private cabins available, each one comfortably furnished and close to the shore. The cabins are all connected by a timber boardwalk, giving you the sense you are part of a close-knit private community. Nearby is Ismailof Island, where galleries and restaurants are opened up to visitors by a series of private connecting boardwalks. Chartered whale watching trips and canoe or kayak hires are available. Cabins are available for 3 nights at rate of $1680 per person. This includes breakfast, dinner and use of the kayaks and rowing boats.
