In Greater Manchester, Wigan is a quiet escape for those looking to enjoy England's great outdoors away from the bustling city. One of the biggest draws to Wigan is its peaceful countryside lakes. Visitors (with proper licensing and fees paid) can fish during fishing season on the Worthington Lakes or enjoy water skiing, boating and jet skiing. Occupying five renovated Victorian terraced houses, The Bellingham Hotel is one of central Wigan's most interesting hotels. Rooms are decorated to fit this Victorian time period with large canopy beds, antique-styled furniture and floral printed wallpaper. Although the rooms are decorated in this manner, they also include a variety of modern amenities such as a colored TV, en-suite bathroom and coffeemaker. Guests can enjoy a meal at the hotel's restaurant or even a full carvery meal on Sundays. The hotel bar also has a light menu of cocktails, pints and appetizers.

Kilhey Court Hotel

Kilhey Court Hotel is set in a Victorian country house 40 minutes outside Manchester and on the outskirts of Wigan. This hotel has 62 rooms ranging from classic to executive suites. Oak Hotel Wigan

Oak Hotel Wigan is ideal for anyone looking for a modern, basic hotel. The former Quality Inn is in the heart of Wigan near Wigan Pier. It is easily accessible from the major motorways and only five minutes from the train station. Each room has a single or double bed with a private bathroom, TV with Sky Channels, hair dryer and coffeemaker. The hotel rooms is decorated with plain curtains and maroon-and-white sheets, and there are adjoining rooms for families. In the lobby there is also a restaurant that serves a variety of British and European meals.
