Restaurants in Sacramento, California

Restaurants in Sacramento, California
By day Sacramento bustles with activity, radiating outward from the State Capitol located in the heart of downtown. At night the town reverts to its agrarian roots, quiet and a little sleepy. It's a city of trees, resting at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers, where people flock for water sports of every kind or hike along the American River Trail. Sacramento's best restaurants are hidden treasures that cater to local diners who love food.

The Squeeze Inn

The Squeeze Inn, a family-operated restaurant located south of downtown, boasts the best burgers in Sacramento and has the awards to prove it. The menu is simple, burgers and sandwiches, but the execution of this simple fare is gourmet quality. Best for lunch or a take-out dinner, the restaurant is open Monday through Friday until 6 p.m. and Saturdays until 4. Prices are reasonable.

Shoki Ramen House

Shoki, tucked into a little house near Curtis Park, looks more like someone's home than a restaurant. The inside is simple and often crowded. The only parking available is on the street. You will forget these drawbacks the moment you have a steaming bowl of noodles set in front of you. Ramen is prepared using a traditional three-stage process with spectacular results. The restaurant is open until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and prices are very reasonable.
