Also known as Canton Township, this city lies just outside Detroit in Southeast Michigan. Canton is inland of Lake Erie and has many beautiful areas to explore. The city parks provide a number of bike and hiking trails including the Fellows Creek Nature Trail, the Heritage Park Path and the Barchester Park Path. You can also take the Lower Rouge River Recreation Trail for pretty river views. When you've worked up a steak appetite, Canton has some well-known steakhouses.

Outback Steakhouse

Voted the Best Steak in the 2009 Zagat survey, Outback Steakhouse is a good bet for delicious steaks, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads and more. Start with their famous Awesome Blossom or other appetizers like fried mushrooms, crab stuffed shrimp or cheese fries. Outback's steak options include sirloin, fillet, ribeye, strip steak, porterhouse and prime rib. Other entrees include baby back ribs, grilled chicken and roasted pork tenderloin. For seafood, try the Atlantic salmon, tilapia or Shrimp en Fuego, crispy shrimp with mushrooms and tomatoes in a spicy sauce. There are soups, salads and some appetizers and sides for vegetarians. And if you save room, try the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under, a pecan brownie covered in vanilla ice cream drizzled in warm chocolate sauce and topped with whipped cream. Steaks range in price from $9.95 to $23.95 and most entrees are under $15. Most burgers, sandwiches and salads are under $10 and most desserts are under $6 (all prices are subject to change). Eat in or call ahead for curbside takeout. Dress is casual and the Canton Outback is open for dinner seven days a week.

Applebee's

This popular, family-style restaurant is another great stop for steak in Canton. Try the sirloin, NY strip, chop steak or the Bourbon Street steak with mushrooms, onions and Cajun spices. Pair your steak with fried shrimp, BBQ chicken or riblets. Applebee's has a large menu with dinner options like fajitas, ribs, seafood, pastas, burgers, wraps and sandwiches. Appetizers include boneless Buffalo wings, spinach & artichoke dip and cheeseburger sliders; try an Ultimate Trio combination including three appetizers for $11.99. There are several different salads like the BBQ chicken and the California shrimp. For dessert, savor the Triple Chocolate Meltdown, Mile High Ice Cream Pie or the Maple Butter Blondie. The steaks will run you from $10.79 to $16.49. Applebee's is reasonably priced with most meals between $10-$15 and many under $10 (all prices are subject to change). Logan's Roadhouse

Steaks here are aged and hand-cut on the premises each day. Try Logan's prime rib, teriyaki steak, ribeye, NY strip or their signature Onion Brewski Sirloin stacked on top of Michelob AmberBock beer-braised onions, smothered with garlic butter and topped with crispy onions. Start with fried mushrooms, cheese sticks or country fried chicken tenders. Entrees include meatloaf, grilled chicken and southern fried catfish. Grab a salad, burger or combination like the steak and fried shrimp. Vegetarians can enjoy a salad, some appetizers or a potato. Have strawberry cheesecake, a Nutter Butter Fudgeslide or chocolate brownie for dessert. There's a kid's menu and everyone gets a free, bottomless bucket of in-shell peanuts. Logan's is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and dress is casual.
