Jamestown, known as the "Pride of the Prairie", offers a wide array of recreational opportunities. Bikers and hikers will appreciate the 33-miles of scenic hiking trails in the Jamestown area, including the 4.5-mile Northridge Trail along Pipestem Lake and the 8-mile trail along Pipestem Creek. The Jamestown region is home to more than 300 species of birds and there are nine birding drives just outside of town where bird watchers can indulge. The area is also home to three National Wildlife Refuges: Arrowwood, Chase Lake and Halfway Lake. These wildlife areas, along with the Chan SanSan Scenic Backway, provide explorers the chance to see dozens of wildlife species in their natural habitats.

The Gladstone Inn & Suites is located near the Jamestown Reservoir, known for boating, fishing and picnicking. This Holiday Inn Express is located three miles from Jamestown's Historic Frontier Village and is just off Interstate 94. The hotel has single and double-occupancy rooms and was last renovated in 2005. Rooms come with wireless Internet and cable television, and every stay includes a buffet breakfast.
