Lebanese chef Marie Catrib brings an inventive take on her native country's cuisine to Grand Rapids. Her place is an attractive option for vegetarians and vegans, with offerings such as spinach strawberry salad, falafel and vegetarian kibbe on the menu. Kids can enjoy other choices such as homemade macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter and jam sandwiches. What's even more impressive is the extensive dessert menu, which includes an array of glutton-free and dairy-free items. The restaurant is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Bistro Bella Vita

Bistro Bella Vita offers home-cooked meals from the Mediterranean countryside--particularly the Italian part of the Mediterranean. Some of its delicious pasta dishes include smoked sausage spaghetti, harvest ravioli and rotini con pollo. During the week, they are open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday; on Friday and Saturday, they remain open for dinner until 11 p.m. On Sundays, they are open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On the weekends, valet parking is available.

Osta's Lebanese Cuisine

Osta's is a good choice for visitors planning on spending time at Reed Lake and the surrounding recreational parks, as the property is just a short bike ride away. This is about as close to Lebanon as you can get in Michigan, with hummus, tabouli, meat pies, cheese bread, baba ghanouge and baklava on the menu. Osta's is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; their Saturday hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Note that Osta's is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Parsley Mediterranean Grille

The Pita House

The Pita House is a Grand Rapids success story. The restaurant first opened its doors on Wealthy Street in 1999. Since then, the business has had to open two more branches to accommodate growth. The menu offers an array of specialties from throughout the Eastern Mediterranean, with an emphasis on Turkish and Lebanese food. The black and white gyro--which comes with both chicken and gyro meat--is a house specialty. The restaurant is open Monday to Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
