Hotels in Woodstock, New York

Hotels in Woodstock, New York
Woodstock, a small town outside of Kingston, New York, is in the heart of Ulster County. The town is famous for lending its name to 1968's Woodstock Music Festival, actually held at Max Yasgur's dairy farm some 45 miles away in Bethel. Present-day Woodstock is a quaint town with a large variety of art galleries, craft shops and boutiques.

Hikers will want to traverse nearby Overlook Mountain and attempt to reach the summit, where one of the five remaining fire towers in the Catskills can be found. This is a five-mile round trip that offers clear trails but a steep climb. Moderate hiking skills are a minimum here. Midway to the top, you can pause at the ruins of an old hotel (long since gone), then continue to the top, where you can look out over the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains.
