Oak Brook, Ill., is a quiet village located in the heart of the state. Visitors to the area enjoy exploring the 150 acres that make up the region's park district, taking in a polo match or working on their swing at the local golf club. After a day of outdoor recreational activities, you can work up an appetite. Those craving Italian cuisine are in luck. The village is home to a number of Italian restaurants that offer authentic Italian food.

Tuscany

Tuscany offers a contemporary take on traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant, which is located in the Oak Brook shopping plaza, features a modern decor with metal tones and red hues used as accents throughout the spacious dining room. Diners can select from an extensive menu that features antipasti starters (including calamari fritti and caprese) as well as tasty entrees like spaghettini al capriccio di mare and penne al brivido. A selection of Italian soups and wood-fire pizzas are also available. The restaurant offers five private dining rooms, the largest of which will comfortably accommodate 80 individuals. A pre-planned catering menu is available for those planning a large event. The restaurant features a rotating selection of seasonal specials as well as live music in the on-site Tuscany 77 Cafe. The Oak Brook Tuscany restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday (as of December 2009).

Grotto

Grotto offers an array of contemporary Italian dishes and custom-cut steaks for diner's enjoyment. The restaurant features a rustic decor with deep cream tones and natural wood hues throughout the dining area. An on-site lounge sits adjacent to the dining room, allowing visitors to enjoy a drink with friends while waiting for their table. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of dishes that changes seasonally. The menu contains pastas and gourmet pizzas as well as choice cuts of beef. The restaurant offers an array of special events, including sporting event viewing parties in the lounge and seasonal live music on the patio. The restaurant features a selection of indoor and outdoor event spaces, the largest of which can accommodate up to 240 individuals. Grotto is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday (as of December 2009).

Maggiano's Little Italy

Maggiano's Little Italy offers classic Italian dishes in an upscale atmosphere. This large Oak Brook restaurant can seat up to 350 in the spacious dining room. The restaurant also offers seasonal outdoor seating on the patio. Five on-site banquet rooms are available, the largest of which can accommodate 300 people. The menu rotates seasonally and includes tomato- and cream-based Italian pastas as well as a selection of brick oven pizzas, fresh salads and Italian soups. The restaurant decor features rustic touches that are reminiscent of Old World Italian restaurants. Dine-in, carry-out and banquet menus are all available. The Oak Brook Maggiano's Little Italy is open from 11:15 a.m to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:15 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday (as of December 2009).
