The small, sophisticated city of Charlottesville, Virginia, is the home of the University of Virginia (UVa). It's easy to get around Charlottesville and find the many bike paths and trails within the city. The Blue Ridge Parkway is an easy day trip. Places to fish, watch birds and observe wildlife are plentiful in the country areas just outside Charlottesville. As you might expect from a college town, accommodations of all types and prices are available. Check UVa's game schedule well in advance of your trip. Hilton Garden Inn

More moderately priced than the Boar's Head, this hotel offers standard comfortable Hilton accommodations. Rooms have either one adjustable king bed or two queen beds. Herman Miller desk chairs, microwave ovens and coffeemakers are provided with each room. Suites include kitchenettes. Handicapped-accessible rooms are available. The Hilton Garden Inn has a fitness room, indoor pool and business center. Breakfast is served each morning in the American Grill.

Foxfield Inn

This award-winning bed-and-breakfast inn is located 7 miles from downtown Charlottesville amid rolling hills and horse farms and near the Foxfield steeplechase track. Each of the five guest rooms is individually decorated and has luxury bedding, Bose Wave radios and private baths. Some rooms have double Jacuzzi whirlpools, fireplaces and bay windows.
