White Plains, New York, is a city in Westchester County that offers lots of shopping and dining choices in a safe, urban setting. Close to both New York City and rural, wooded areas, many opportunities for outdoor recreation are close by. Battle-Whitney Park sits atop historic Battle Hill, site of the Battle of White Plains during the Revolutionary War and is a place history buffs may wish to consider visiting. The park includes a picnic area, playground, panoramic views of downtown White Plains and has many historic markers explaining the progression of the battle. Kensico Dam Plaza in nearby Valhalla offers trails and paved paths for hiking, biking and in-line skating. White Plains has many area hotels.

The Ritz-Carlton-Westchester

For those seeking a luxury hotel, consider the Ritz-Carlton in downtown White Plains. Nearby shopping opportunities include the City Center and The Westchester Mall. The Manhattan skyline can be seen on clear days from the property's rooftop fitness center and indoor pool.
