Motels in Picacho, AZ

Motels in Picacho, AZ
Picacho, Arizona, is on Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix. Most people who stay in Picacho visit nearby Picacho Peak State Park, which is 10 miles south of Picacho. The main attraction of the park is Picacho Peak, a 1,500-foot tall peak off of I-10. The town doesn't have any motels, so travelers should consider camping or parking at an RV site at the state park or finding accommodations in Eloy, which is 8 miles north of Picacho and 13 miles north of Picacho Peak. A short Civil War battle (the Battle of Picacho Peak/Pass) was fought here on April 15, 1862. This battle is considered to be the farthest West that any Civil War battle was fought. You can see a re-enactment of this and other Arizona and New Mexico Civil War battles at Picacho Peak State Park.

Picacho Peak State Park

Picacho Peak State Park has 85 sites available for tent and recreational vehicle camping. Four of the sites are group sites, able to accommodate at least 10 people. Each group site contains individual sites with a picnic table and fire ring, as well as a ramada and large group fire ring. All group sites must be reserved.
The park has dozens of electric and nonelectric RV sites, four of which are handicapped accessible. There are two restroom buildings, equipped with hot water showers. Nearby hiking trails range up to 2 miles in length, with hiking levels ranging from easy to difficult. Contact the park by telephone to make reservations.
