Zihuatanejo is a small Mexican town known for its friendly locals and laid-back lifestyle. The protected bay offers plenty of opportunities for fishing and boating. Coconuts

Coconuts is housed in a 150-year-old building that was once a coconut plantation. Later, the building was a field hospital during the Mexican Revolution. Today, the building serves as a restaurant and an art gallery, showcasing works by local artists. Coconuts offers local and regional cuisine, reflecting a variety of cultural influences. Entrees include pan-seared and oven-roasted mahi mahi, chili relleno, pot-roasted chicken and chorizo pasta. Guests can also enjoy appetizers such as shrimp tacos, black bean soup, sashimi and Thai papaya salad. The restaurant also offers a regional wine list that includes Mexican, Central American and American selections.

Caprichos

This restaurant, situated in downtown Zihuatanejo, offers some of the best people-watching of any spot in the town. Guests can dine on the restaruant's rooftop terrace, relax on the patio or enjoy a drink in the bar. The menu features a mixture of Mexican, Italian and American specialties, including rib-eye steaks, chile rellenos, marinated skirt steak and pepper fettuccine with shrimp. The menu also features appetizers such as tortilla soup, guacamole, black bean soup and shrimp cocktail. The wine list includes selections from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Italy and France.

Kau Kan

Kau Kan is located along the road to Ropa Beach, where guests can enjoy the temperate Mexican weather while lounging in the sun. This restaurant offers open-air rooftop dining and a terrace with views of the bay. Seafood features prominently on the menu here--signature dishes include black butter stingray, calamari, lobster potatoes and grilled mahi mahi. Guests also favor the tuna rolls with sea bass tartar and the mahi mahi ceviche.
