Rocky Mountaineer Train to Whistler
The Rocky Mountaineer train service offers day trips to the town of Whistler every day from May until October. Passengers receive breakfast on the train to Whistler, which leaves North Vancouver Station at 8:15 a.m.. The train follows the coastline as far as Howe Sound before trekking past mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and more to reach Whistler. Return trains depart daily at 2:30 p.m. and include High Tea or a late lunch.

Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions
The Alberta Prairie Railway tops the list of Canada's family-friendly day trips. Real steam or diesel-powered trains leave Stettler, Alberta, situated just three hours from Calgary, for five to six hours of family adventure amid the rolling countryside of Alberta. Train themes include murder mysteries, family dinner theater and teddy bear specials, and the train may even be attacked by old-time bandits. All excursions include a buffet meal off the train.

Train Touristique Orford Express
The seasonally-operated Train Touristique Orford Express travels through scenic lake and mountain landscapes along its trip through the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Passengers may choose to dine on the train or enjoy lounge seating with panoramic views. Meals are served on board Wednesday to Sunday from May 8 to October 31. A stop at Merry Point on Lake Memphremagog lets passengers to stretch their legs and drink in the view. Train/hotel packages are available for longer trips.
