Cortland, New York is a small city midway between the cities of Syracuse (to the north) and Binghamton (to the south). The home of the State University of New York at Cortland, the area is rich in history and pastoral to view. The home of the 76th New York Volunteer Unit during the Civil War, Cortland's 76th were the first into battle at Gettysburg.

A trip to the countryside during the fall foliage season will leave a lasting impression on anyone. Hikers and nature lovers should head northwest of the city to Fillmore Glen State Park, a rustic location open year-round, featuring dense woods, magnificent views and five major waterfalls.
