Named after a folk story, Stone Soup serves comforting food. Meals are charged by weight and offered buffet or eat-in style. Stone Soup is almost all vegetarian and vegan options are abundant. One of the popular specialty staples is a Maple Glazed Tofu. The menu changes daily and the focus is always on seasonal, local produce. Stone Soup bakes fresh cakes and breads daily. Be sure to bring cash though, Stone Soup doesn't accept credit cards, as of December 2009.

Penny Cluse Café is an extremely popular breakfast café in Burlington. Although not a vegetarian restaurant, the menu offers heaps of vegan breakfast options, including a delicious tofu scramble, fresh fruit cocktails, smoothies, granola with soy milk and vegan breakfast meats. Start your day off right with a filling, fresh vegan breakfast from the Penny Cluse Café and stay to watch the morning pedestrian traffic heading down busy Cherry Street.

The Daily Planet

The Daily Planet offer a funky atmosphere of celestial décor and optional outdoor dinning. The restaurant is located down an alleyway, just off from the busy street. Vegan-friendly, with choices such as pumpkin hummus, butternut squash soup and yellow curry. The menu is seasonal and focuses on fresh, local produce. You can also find an extensive and creative drinks menu at The Daily Planet. Try a "Flower Child," "Deep Banana Whiteout" or "Gingersnap" with your meal. The restaurant also serves as an art gallery, with exhibits changing frequently.

Leonardo's Pizza offers a healthier, vegan-friendly option on the staple pizza take-out. When ordering a pizza at Leonardo's, you have a choice between white or organic whole wheat pizza crust, and dairy cheese can easily be substituted for soy cheese. "The Vegan Salvation" is a Leonardo's specialty that includes olive oil garlic sauce, vegan soy cheese, and lots of fresh veggies.
